Hits Galore: Skinner Drills 5 Hits
Friday, October 17th, 1958: Today at Crosley Field Bob Skinner put on an impressive display of hitting -- the Washington left fielder tagged Cincinnati pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on his batting spree and lost the game to the Redlegs by the score of 8-7.

"Hey, the loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it. 5-6 ain't bad in any league."

Despite the terrific performance, Skinner remained somewhat somber. "Sure, I'm happy with my performance today," he was quoted as saying in the locker room, "But all that really matters in this game is that number in the win column. We just didn't get it done today."

Bob Skinner doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.

Skinner is hitting .336 so far this season with 49 RBIs and 74 runs scored. He has 128 hits including 9 home runs, 35 walks and .391 OBP.
